Will I Be Charged for Roaming? Here’s the Truth About Our SIMs and eSIMs

If you’re travelling overseas and using one of our Global Starlink SIMs or eSIMs, you might be wondering:
“Will I get charged for roaming?”
The short answer? No — not with our SIM or eSIM.
Here’s why.
✅ Our SIMs and eSIMs Include International Roaming
When you activate a Global Starlink SIM or eSIM, your plan includes data coverage in the countries we list. That means:
- You can use mobile data in your destination country without any extra roaming fees
- You’re not tied to your local/home carrier’s roaming charges
- Everything is prepaid and transparent — no bill shock
So, if you’re using our SIM/eSIM, you’re good to go.
⚠️ The One Time You Might Get Charged: Your Original SIM Is Still Active
Now, here’s where some travellers accidentally rack up charges:
If you leave your original/home SIM card active in your phone and roaming is turned on, your phone might still use that SIM for calls, texts, or even background data.
This can happen:
- Even if you're using our eSIM for data
- Even if your phone switches between networks in the background
That’s when you can get hit with unexpected roaming charges — but it’s not coming from us.
🛑 How to Avoid Roaming Charges from Your Home Carrier
To stay completely safe and avoid roaming charges:
- Turn off mobile data roaming for your original SIM (check your phone settings)
- If using a physical SIM from Global Starlink, remove or disable your local SIM
- If using our eSIM, set it as the primary data line
Double-check your network settings to ensure your phone is only using the Global Starlink SIM/eSIM for data
🧳 Tip Before You Travel
iPhones and most Androids let you label your SIMs (e.g., “Home” and “Travel”) — make sure your Global Starlink eSIM is selected for mobile data.
Some phones let you disable your original SIM temporarily without removing it — handy if you're using dual SIM mode
In Summary:
✅ No roaming charges with Global Starlink — our plans cover the countries listed
⚠️ You might get charged by your home provider if your original SIM is active and roaming is on
💡 Turn off data roaming on your home SIM and set Global Starlink as your primary data source
